How to Buy Wholesale Candy for Your Convenience Store

A practical guide for c-store and small grocery owners on stocking confectionery for the highest margins.

Buying wholesale candy is one of the highest-margin moves a convenience store, gas station or fruit market can make. Done right, a four-foot candy run can outperform an entire cooler. Done wrong, you end up with melted bars, expired gum and shelves of slow movers. The trick is buying from a true wholesale distributor — not a club store — and stocking the items that actually turn.

At Nubani Distributors we have spent over 27 years serving independent retailers across Illinois and the Midwest. The retailers who succeed all do three things: they buy the popular national brands first, they layer in two or three closeout deals each week, and they keep their pegs full. That last point matters more than people think. An empty peg is invisible to the customer; a full one converts.

When you set up a wholesale account with us, you get access to thousands of SKUs across count goods, peg bags, candy bags, lollipops, chocolate bars, gummies, wrapped and unwrapped bulk, jars, bubble gum, chewing gum and novelty candy. Pricing is tiered — the more you buy, the more you save — and we offer discounted shipping on truckload and pallet orders.

To open an account you need a FEIN and a Tax-Free / Reseller Certificate. Our minimum order is $1,000, which for most stores is one mixed pallet of candy and snacks. Accounts are typically active within 1–2 business days of submitting the application.

If you are weighing distributors, ask about closeouts. Most wholesalers don't carry them. We do — limited quantities, rotating weekly, at prices you cannot match through a manufacturer rep. That is where the real margin lives.
